If Thursday was a blur, Friday wasn’t much better.

I know my plan was to get up early enough to get to the sbobet noon tourney, but my body wasn’t cooperating. Going to bed at 6am that morning probably didn’t help.

When I finally staggered into the poker room (running on no sleep and less food is a bad idea), the tourney was seated and it was full. There were enough of us stragglers, however, that they opened a new table.

I was happy to see fhwrdh sitting to my left, but, unfortunately, he wouldn’t last long.

Cracking Cowboys and Busting Out

A few hands in, fhwrdh plays his Hiltons hard, as he should, especially with a J-high, no straight, rainbow flop. Apparently, his opponent thought his pair-draw was solid and he called with AKo. An ace on the turn and fhwrdh was tilted out of the tourney. I’m not sure I’d have taken as well as he did.

My first big hand is pocket deuces. I limp to see a flop and it’s raised after me, a standard raise. Since I’m already in the pot, I decide to see if I can get lucky and call. The flop is 9-3-2. I check (because I’m tricky like that) and my opponent makes a pot sized bet. I push, he calls, and flips his cracked Kings. Sorry pal.

And that’s the last hand I remember. When our table broke, I took up a seat to Michael Craig’s right. He was an exceedingly nice man. And I don’t know what happened, but I think I played a total of three hands at that table before busting.

The PokerStars.net European Poker Tour has become a hit over the recent years, gaining popularity with both players and viewers alike. This is certainly in part due to the beautiful cities through which the EPT travels, and this seems set to continue with the latest announcement coming this week that there will be a stop in Vienna, Austria.

The European keluar sgp Tour first started in 2004, and is still going strong today. It is a series of televised poker tournaments, each offering an excellent prize pool and taking place in a different beautiful city somewhere in Europe. The tour is sponsored by PokerStars.net and thus far six complete seasons have aired with play for the seventh beginning earlier this week in the beautiful city of Tallinn, Estonia.

This seventh series of the PokerStars.net European Poker Tournament will have over ten stops with the most recent on the list to be confirmed being Vienna. EPT has not stopped in the beautiful Austrian capital since its first season in 2004, and there is much excitement about the announcement. Team PokerStars Pro Johannes Steindl, who recently moved to Vienna, voiced his enthusiasm. “It is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. I’ll be playing my best game to try and take home the prize”.

As will a lot of other players as the €5,300 buy-in Main Event boasts a guaranteed first-place prize of €500,000. Poker fans will be used to total prize pools of similar sizes, and to have such a large amount guaranteed to first place alone speaks volumes for the tournament. I’m a big fan of table games, my favorite being togel hongkong hari ini . They’re a ton of fun and blackjack in particular has just the right mix of chance and strategy. It seems that Ed Rendell, the governor of Pennsylvania feels the same way. He is an advocate for the legalization of table games in Pennsylvania casinos and sees them as a way for generating extra revenue for a state that, like the rest of America, is hurting for cash.

When politicians want something bad enough, they usually resort to threats. It’s that way from city politicians all the way through the President of the United States. Such is the case here. Governor Rendell warns that if a bill legalizing the table games is not passed by the end of the week, the state will need to cut funds by laying off nearly 1,000 state employees, with the state prison system and the Department of Public Welfare seeing most of the cuts.

This is a common strategy. It is common for cities to claim that if they don’t get an increased budget they will lay off police and firefighters (rather than, say, not putting pretty plants along the highways). Prisons and welfare are kind of a state’s version of that threat. Rendell may in fact me serious about the threat, but if so, he would take a big hit politically. It will be interesting to see how things turn out.

What does it take to play poker for a living? What is it like to play in big games? What does it take to win? These are the questions Doug Young attempts to answer in his book, High Stakes Poker: The Sky’s the Limit, a chronicle of the lessons learned by a professional poker player.

Young’s book provides advice on what it takes to play at the highest levels in the moderately big games in which he plays. He doesn’t focus on the play of hands. In fact, he doesn’t mention a single hand of poker in the entire book. Instead, his focus is on the mental and psychological aspects that are required in order to play winning poker. This is a collection of about 30 mostly stand-alone essays which contain this advice. Some sample topics include, “Finding A Game”, “Poker & Booze”, and “Pay Attention To That Inner Voice”.

Almost all of the advice is solid, such as advising players not to play with scared money, to quit a game if you’re not playing one’s best, and that players’ biggest adversaries usually are themselves. Some advice isn’t as good. Young talks about how important it is to recognize and play a rush, and how important it is to stay out of the way of another player’s rush. *sigh*. I wish I had a dollar for every poker player who misinterprets or just doesn’t understand the ramifications of the Central Limit Theorem. This is just wrong, and I firmly believe that this sort of advice is harmful to players. Fortunately, very little of the book’s contents are so destructive.
